X-Dance and Current TV Team Up For Broadcast Coverage

Park City, UT – – The LAT34/X-Dance Action Sports Film Festival announces Current TV as its official broadcast sponsor. Current TV is the first national network created by and for its 18 to 34 year-old demographic. The network shows young adults what is happening in their world, in their voice.

David Neuman is President of Programming at Current TV. “We at Current TV are incredibly enthusiastic about being a major partner in X-Dance, because our missions are very much in line—-providing independent filmmakers with a media platform in which to tell their stories,” Neuman said.

Eric Barrett, X-Dance Executive Producer of TV/Sponsorship knows that this new relationship is fitting on many levels. “Current TV has made it their mission to democratize television – featuring content created by people who watch it. Our model is the same – providing a showcase and an outlet for action sports films created by filmmakers who love the genre. We are excited to have a sponsor that not only speaks to our demographic, but for it,“ he said.

Current TV (www.currenttv.com) will be producing several stories throughout of the LAT34/X-Dance Film Festival, including interviews with athletes, filmmakers and action sports fans. The content will be supplied in part by the very audience watching the programming.

Current has developed the television industry’s leading model of “viewer created content” (VC2), which comprises roughly one-third of Current’s on-air broadcast, and allows the audience to submit short-form, nonfiction video “pods,” “viewer created ads” (V-CAMs), and mobile video. Its award-winning programming ranges from the hottest trends in technology, fashion, music and videogames, to pressing issues such as the environment, relationships, parenting, finance, politics and spirituality.

Running along side the Sundance Film Festival, the LAT34/X-Dance Festival runs from January 19-23, 2007. The festival consists of free screenings of top action sports films with filmmaker Q&As, nightly parties, and a closing night awards ceremony featuring a special guest music headliner. X-Dance headquarters and screening room are located at 333 Main Street, 2nd Floor of the Main Street Mall, across from the Egyptian Theater.
